16's Or 17's

Hi guys,

Just wondering could any of ye help me out with the problem of choosing alloys for my corolla (2002 hatchback model 1.4vvti)

I want to get a set of OZ superturismo gt's but can't decide between 16's or 17's. I know 17's are simply going to look better, but will the big alloy and low profile outfit really mess up my suspension as bad as I'm told?!

Any help is much appreciated.

17" will be fine - make sure you have the tracking done. dont forget to show us them when you have them fitted. there is a big thread on the t sport forum called "show us your wheels" or something like that, have a look you might find it helps

Cheers for the advice lads. Much appreciated. would 40 or 45 tyres be better? I don't want to blow a small fortune on tyres and alloys and then not suit the car. best price i'm getting is 1,100euro for alloys and tyres. they better be worth it!!!

What are the road like where you are in clare? I drive down to limerick every week from mayo, and know if i had to go through Gort or places like that it would break my heart if i had 17's on mine, especially with a low profile like 40 or 45. Warped in no time, plus extra wear on the suspension. Iv t sport with standard 16 195/55 and this is just my self now, but i wouldn't go any lower cause of the way roads are. Fella i know in limerick has 17's on a focus, going down the road and cars shacking like mad cause of warped alloys from the rough roads. Would you ever consider trying to get a set of t sport alloys from England or someone off here? Least you have a good idea what they will look like. I'm not selling by the way but someone on here mite be

Ya that's what's bothering me. Irish roads are utter *****e in general. I have a feeling that 17's will be wrecked themselves, and will trash my suspension too. But personally I think 16's look a litte small on the Corolla.

Yea sure if you were living in UK or up around Dublin you wouldnt have to think bout it,but sure we know what the road are like around here, cars get shuck to bits as it is!! Compromise both ways. If i was goin for the 17's i'd get the 45,give you some chance, mite be glad of it if you come across badly signed road works.

Even heading home one day on the Ennis bypass, thank god i wasn't driving the corolla coming of the duel carriage way big dip with nice sharp edges in the road where they hadnt finished properly, tipping along nicely,if was in the corolla id have buckled the two front wheels id say. Driving sisters car thank god, steel rims, big thick side walls!!
