Hi everyone,

I think this only my second post on this site so go easy.

I have a 2000 mkIII mr-s and when i turn the ignition on the arial comes up no problem just as it's meant to. However, when i turn the ignition off again the arial doesn't fully retract everytime. It does maybe every 15/20 times.

Anyone got any ideas on how i could fix this? A cheap solution would be preferable ;)

Thanks folks,

Ross

Hi Ross,

I`ve had the same thing happen to mine off and on over the years. It is caused by all the salt/grit ect which is put on the road this time of the year.

Do this, Raise the aerial , then get a rag soaked in white spirit, turps or similar, and wipe the aerial FROM THE BOTTOM UP.

Do this several times, this will remove the crud which has found it`s way down between the sections.

Next, get another rag soaked in WD-40 or similar and wipe from the TOP DOWN.

Again, do this several times, this will lubricate the sliding sections.

If you do this every few weeks it will stop any sticking.

Regards Bob.
