New Xt-r Versus The Old Xt-r

Hi all,

Mainly a lurker, rather than a poster, but great forum.

My question is, I have a 05 XT-R and the 3 years are up this summer. What with the recent upgrade in spec on the XT-R and the 0% finance offer, I'm being swayed as to

1) buy the new tyres I need/ get the service done on my existing one or

2) just trade it in for a new XT-R.

I've been to the local dealer and it's a lovely car (I especially like the fact the rear door now opens 90 degrees :P ) Is there anybody who has completed this trade up and can give me an honest apprasial of the two? My current one is great, love it to death, and I have thought about just getting a newer 2nd hand one, with low miles on it.I didn't fancy the new XT-R originally, as the cruise control was missing as standard, but it's in there now so no excuses.

Any feedback much appreciated

Cheers

Hi cab

I think it all comes down to money. How much will they offer for your old RAV against the list price of the new model .One possible way would be to sell your old RAV privately for a fair price and buy a new RAV off an internet broker with a discount of around £2000 off list.

The safety and active control are worth some investment. These systems are superb. However, you will lose quite a lot on your old one so its up to you.

Thanks for all the replies-yes, I've just got a quote for P/E from a London based franchise and they are saying £9,500 :o -does this sound right? Anybody connected with dealerships who can confirm this?

Depending on spec they seem to be for sale for 10'700 -> 13'000 on AutoTrader privately. :D

(Couple of them up at 14'500 but with low mileage)

Hi cab

Is that £9500 for your old car against list price new XTR , or £9500 on top of your old car for new car ?

New Xtr diesel rrp is £21,245 (leather £1250 extra) Old Xtr diesel rrp £19,500 less than 3years ago

Serious depreciation of over £3000 a year !!

Sell your old car privately for £11,000 buy a new one off an internet broker for £19,295 , difference £8,295.

Cheers guys-looks like the chap thinks its a petrol by the looks of it. I emailed him back this afternoon-think I might do it again and tell him it is a diesel.I did give him the reg, so he could look it up on his database, but looks like he didn't look too closely.

Lilth-that was 9500 against a new , list price XTR with no other extras-hence my surprise!

Kingo-thanks for the offer.I'll be in contact

thanks again chaps
