The Deed Has Been Done...

After having had a full weekend's worth of test drive, I've decided to trade in my trusty T180 for a 57 plate Murano.

Can't say the decision was an easy one, as the Rav has been practiacally faultless for the past year and a bit that we've owned it.

I guess the reasons for changing are:

i) The Murano is slightly bigger inside - but not up to X5 or RR size, so still manageable - which is a bonus with my kids being 13 and 11 soon.

ii) The Murano is an even more "luxurious" ride than the Rav. It feel like you're inside a decent saloon rather than a SUV and it's smothers manhole covers and potholes which have had the Rav crashing into.

iii) The POWER!!! Couldn't believe it, but it was even quicker to drive than the T180. And it handled just as well too, which is a bonus.

iv) The deal, I got from Nissan for trading in the Rav. I would have had to be mad not too!!!

I know it's going to cost more to run , but it's not for the long term (dealer threw in 12 months road tax @ £300!!!) and I've got my name down for an Audi Q5 which I should hopefully get by the end of the year, and with the deal I did, I'm happy that depreciation shouldn't be too much of a problem in the short term.

Hopefully you don't all hate me!!!

Cheers.

Paul.

sounds good.

Sorry but until i checked the internet, I thought the Murano was a Renault or Fiat van to rival the transit and couldn't understand your move....

The Murano looks to be a decent car, Paul.

Good luck with it, and do let us know how you're getting on with it, from time to time.

Looks like I'm about to change as well.

TBH, the RAV ownership was caused more through circumstance than an intended purchase for myself as originaly it was SWMBO's choice until a nice convertible turned up that she took a shine to as well  . The result was having to buy two cars but I can't say that I've regretted it. THE RAV has been reliable and if my desire for something really, really, quick for use on a daily basis didn't keep eating at me then I'd probably have kept it forever.

Not sure what I can expect to get for it with less than 8k miles on but hope the pain isn't too great

Steve

wots an amv8 - amphibious motor vehicle, version 8 ????

an by the way - ye shuid see the MR2 ah picked up the day ....its braw. Never seen wan like it! Ah'll need tae tak picters o it tae show aff. The nice seller even asked me if ah wanted the drivers seat thrown in fur free. Seiin as we'd jist mounted the motor oan the trailer, the drivers door wis jammed shut cos the body caught on ma mudguard bracket and bent the bleedn thing. Bein the genuine nice guy, I suggested he keep his seat as it wis tae much hassle tae replace it. It must go like a bomb....in fact ah think its already gone like a bomb!! Mind ye, it cannae get ony lower tae the road. Not so much lowered suspension as nae suspension!

Steve, what you looking at?

Isn't the Aston Martin V8 fast enough (Are you looking bothy ;) ) for you? :D

Simon, The V8's a 'Garage Queen' and in hibernation :D

IMG_3007dxo25.jpg

Just couldn't stop the temptation of something a bit bigger for day to day but I'm really enjoying having an SUV so, it had to be this I'm afraid

AMG ML63

If the deal goes ahead then I could have it by the middle of next week. If the deal falls through then the RAV's a keeper and I'll forget the insanity of wanting something a 'bit' bigger'!

Petrol prices is obviously not an issue for you :D

I had to look a couple of times to figure what was going on in that picture.

Can't remember what colour your Aston is, but is that a picture of YOUR Aston?

BTW, that's some garage, or should I say private showroom ;), you have there.

Yes Simon, mine. The colour is Vertigo Blue, an 'out of range' colour first seen on the DB7.

Petrol prices are always an issue but fortunately my annual mileage is realtively low.

You could always convert it to diesel; or even propane; or both!

After yesterday's performance of trying to get 2 new front tyres fitted (waiting for Toyota to come back to me before I post anything further), you're better off with an XT4 Rob!

IT took my brother in law 3 weeks to get that injector out of his TD4 Freelander. Ended up drilling it out in bits.

So don't get one of those (unless it just had 4 new injectors).
