Interesting one, there is a heated mirror switch listed, but we never had that spec in this country, the specs are for left hand drive and Australia only. I have the part numbers but no prices, if you could get the mirrors, you would have to find a way of wiring them, because, not being for our European spec, the loom is not going to be the same, you would end up hard wiring it, so not an easy job. Upgrade to a newer model :D:

Surely...When I turn on my rear Window heater button...the mirrors also come on and clear any mist/water etc... there is no separate switch..All the car's I have had have had the same setup...aprt from Fords that have two buttons, one for front screen and one for rear....

My early 2000 3 Door GXS has heated mirrors and has a separate switch on the left of the centre console next to the circular blank that I cut out to fit an oil pressure gauge.

Described as 'defogger switch' in owners handbook.

We're looking at a 4.1 here, they don't have heated mirrors. The heated mirrors on 4.2 onwards come on when you switch on the heated rear window. The 4.1 LHD and Australia version have heated mirrors with a seperate switch, hope that clears it up

Defogger switch is the rear heated window, is yours a RAV 4.1 or 4.2?

It's a RAV 4.1, the heated rear screen 'defogger switch' is on the left upper centre console next to the emergency flasher switch.

The mirror 'defogger switch' is on the left of the lower part just above the ashtray in a bank of four (middle two are blanked off and the right hand one is the headlight beam control).

If I could use a digital camera and PC as well as I can a socket set I would send a photo!

aiberdonian is correct parts king, the switch is on the very left of the pannel to the head lamp level switch, the blank he mentioned is the additional cig lighter blank.

i am also looking into this and have found the loom is present behind the panel, and the mirror loom in the doors has the additional wires. all i can see that is needed is

1. switch

2. mirrors (best from a scrappers)

NOTE: i have not yet checked if relay and fuse is needed or if it uses the rear window circuit.

i am a toyota tech so i could look this up in the workshop manuels
