What Am I Driving?

Hi all,

I recently bought a 91 (H) Celica Convertible Japanese Import. Can anyone give me any information as to what model and stuff it might be. it has 4WS, MANU, PWR, and an odd red button in Japanese by the gear stick.

It is a lovely car which does need some work doing on it, but at the moment my main problem is that my heating only seems to work for about a week then stops. or does it...I realised last night that after I pushed the aircon on, the heating stopped working and the only way to get it back on was o disconnect the Battery and reconnect it. Can someone please help?

Also, Can anyone let me know how I can get the roof tightened or shrink. it has a big sag in the middle which gets a big puddle in the rain. no leaks or anything, just the puddle.

Thanks in advance

Kind regards

Dean

ST183 probably. Like this?

Don't turn the air-con on then ;) Not heard of that particular fault before, sorry.

You could try treating the hood to see if that tightens the fibres up perhaps? Not many experts on convertibles I wouldn't think as there weren't that many made. But the problem must be common to owners of any convertible of that age.

Well I'd gladly swap my porous one for your saggy one!

Take it to a local hood specialist and if they are good, they'll show you what you have to do to tension it! :yahoo:

Actually I don't know what the red button is either and I doubt if you'll find out, no one has ever replied to any of my questions on this forum!!!!!

Your one probably isn't quite like the red one in the picture from WIKIetc. That one for some obscure reason has different to standard mirrors, yours probably has electric ones. They do look a bit more meaty with 17s too. They are quite rare in the UK and the story is they are fitted with the hood in California and shipped back to Japan and distributed from there usually as pre loved models! :D

Hi the red button lets you move the gear selector without putting the keys in or foot on the brake :) so you can move the car if needs be
