Toyota Avensis D4d T3s Starting Problem

Hi I have a 2003 Avensis d4d T3s model. It starts up no problem, when cold.

However after driving for a while and stopping/starting a few times, the car then refuses to start although it turns over.

A push will get it going though.

If I dont push it I will Have then to wait for about an hour for car to cool down then it will start.

The glow plugs have been changed. Any Ideas

Possibly starter motor, they don't turn the engine over quickly enough to start it, quite common on Avensis

Kingo

hello

are you sure ethe preformance of diesel solenid valve normal (also check with control el wire that controls solenoid).

In case the starter motor rotates the engine -- it is not its fault , moreover all plugs are presumed as OK.

hello mate

FYI - solenoid valve (SCV) is mounted on the HP pump body. They must to be both there. You can easy test them by two persons (one in cabin but another one has to touch them at the time of ignition key turning in ON position (without engine cranking). In case they are both in order then a spesific CLICK must to be heard. It means that an el. signal (comand) has reached them and feeds solenoids resulting valves opening. WHen both opened -- the diesel is sucted from the fine fuel filter, if not you'll never start the engine (!).
