Button On Steering Column

hi i have just found a push on / off button on the top of my steering column,but i cant for the love of me figure out what it does .anybody got any ideas

is it a standard part on the left hand side? if so its for the coloum pop up when the key is removed from the ignition.

if it's not it could be for fog's? or something that has been removed?

yeh its on the left at the top of the column.pressed it the other day wen i found it whilst engine running-nothing happened.do u not if it is the steering column adjust how it works?

That's probably what it is. In one position the steering wheel stays fixed and in the other it swings up and out of the way when you remove keys.
