if it's only just started doing this the your stat is goosed, if it has always done it you need to take the housing off and see A: if you have a stat B: if it's a low temperature one

not had the car long but has done it since av had it, do you have to remove the alternator? av been and bought a new one so may as well change it?

thanxs mate

also will i need to change the fluid as i have not long since done this? or do i just bleed it when i have refitted the pipes

it's easier if you've not got the cat still on the down pipe as a support bracket gets in the way, if you've still got the cat then you need to at least undo the bottom alternator bolt and loosen the top so you can swing it up out the way, after that it's only 2 small bolt's holding the stat housing on (10mm IIRC could be 8's though)

you should just be able to bleed the system so long as the coolant is still clear. just make sure when installing the new stat that the giggle pin is to the 12o'clock position as this helps the system bleed.

ment to say, if your stat is missing your car may have had overheating problems in the past so be prepared for the worst, the dreaded BHG.

fingures crossed it's not as it is a make or brake time for most GT-Four owners
