Gear Box Noise

hi

I own a toyota avensis 2001 . when I take my foot off the accelarater it makes a funny grinding like noise which disappears on putting foot on accelarater . can it be due to timing chain belt.

my mechanic said it is gear box. he explained that when u take foot off the race the tyres move the engine which makes that noise.

expert help need.

should I get the gear box changed asap.

they petrols gearbox mainshaft bearings do have issues.

definetely gearbox. im breaking an avensis and have a gearbox.....

could be interested in the whole car...........
