Dash Top Cubby Hole - 2007 Avensis

I want to move my iPod and the Toyota brand connecting lead from the glove box where it was fitted and into the little box with a lid on top of the dashboard so I can reach it.

This means making a hole in the box to poke the connecting lead/plug-end through.

Ideally I would like to take out the box to drill it as long as it is easy to remove without damaging the trim.

Alternatively I could risk making a hole in it where it is, providing I know exactly what's under and around it.

Anyone know anything about how to remove it or able to point me at an exploded diagram of the 2007 dashboard?

Thanks

Hi, I want to do much the same, in that I want to fit two 12v cigarette lighter sockets at the back of the box - one would be used for a Garmin GPS which I use in the box and the other for a blue tooth unit for my mobile phone. This saves the cables going down the front of the radio unit to the normal cigarette lighter sockets. I would also need to get behind the existing cigarette lighter to run cables up to the two new sockets.

Did anyone reply to you re your append on how to safely remove this box? If so, could you post the instructions so I can also remove my box.

****** Sorry - I just realised where the answers were for the above append *******

Thanks

Siggi

Guys,

Let me know how you get on removing the top cubby hole piece. I suspect it's just a case of brute force

and ignorance but too chicken to apply the necessary force in case there are actual clips that require

manual intervention rather than just yanking hard.

Been there, done it before, got the T-shirt!!!

Thanks

Ken
