Corolla 1.6 Sr

Hi,

I have read a few old posts re: the low mpg achieved for a 1.6 SR, is this a real problem? I can't see how it be any different to the MPG of any other 1.6 as I thought it was the same engine?

I was also interested to know what the best colour to get might be - I am on my 5th Corolla and have previously gone for understated colours like Igneous grey and Red, though had 2 Gti's in white. The SR I am looking at is in Balearic Blue and I'm worried that it seems a pretty young colour for an older driver like me! Is it a pretty common colour in an SR?

yep thats the colour to buy! grey is not to bad but if you get that blue it will stand out and it is very flashy would have loved to got that colour

I've got a 1.6 SR, but in Silver as the lead time to buy Blue was too long and would have meant 4 new tyres to pass the MOT on the old Corolla (I'm now on Corolla #3)!

The MPG isn't great, but as always, a lot depends on how you drive it. I wouldn't trust the MPG generated by the car as it always seems low compared to manual calculations. Normally the computer on mine is 4-5 MPG lower than the true value.

I don't think you should worry about the MPG. If I drive like an old man i get another 70 miles to a tank than if I drive harder.
