Important: Recall On Rav 4.3 Rubber Floor Mats

Just had a letter from Toyota saying that if you have rubber floor mats on your RAV (part number PZ414-X2353-RJ) the drivers' side mat should be changed.

I'm sure all 4.3 owners will get the letter in due course, but I'd thought I'd post the information as the Royal Mail can be rubbish! :D

Cannae be that rubbish if :a) you received a letter; and B) if Toyota had done their research properly, then the letter wouldn't have been needed....

Got it last week. Clearly the rubber mats (which I don't have, by the way) are more important than the crash sensor...

Got mine last week too. Suprised it was sent by recorded delivery.

I have genuine Toyota mats, but they are carpet and not rubber. I'm guessing this does not apply to me? Will check the part no, when I get chance.

(On a side note, this was also a problem with the Mazda RX8 (my previous car). One owner nearly had a crash when his mat jammed under his peddle because the dealer had not secured it!!)

yes it is only rubber mats on one model so cant imagine many been affected at all as carpets are alot more popular

I checked my carpet mats but no luck - I thought I might have been having nice new ones on the house!!!

They are writing to ALL owners of RAV and Prius, as they dont know if you bought any after the sale, in other words, over the counter at a later date. It ONLY applies to the GENUINE Toyota RUBBER mats, any carpet mats are not included

Kingo

Kingo, do you know what the reason is for the recall, or is it one of those hush-hush top secret things? Interfering with pedals or something?

I do have those rubber mats, but no letter for me yet.

Any cut off date or new part number for replacement?

Thanks

(and thanks to Duncs for first highlighting it )

Thanks for going to the trouble of scanning that Anchorman, but I am an idiot.

I could have put money on the part number matching my mats earlier, but having read and looked again mine are PZ414-X2356-RJ. Doh! :bangin:

It's a conspiracy I reckon - you've edited the post while I wasn't looking or the Toyota Mat Goblin has sneakily swapped the mats in the meantime.

Mind you, I was having difficulty seeing the problem, mine are "anchored" (get it?) down with the usual hooks, maybe that is the difference.

I'm getting my eyes tested soon and yes I'll get my head examined at the same time

Cheers
