Cambelt - Chain Or Belt?

Hi All

Someway off yet, but does anyone know if the belts on the 2007 2.2 Diesel 'D4D' are belt or chain driven?

Whatever the case, what intervals are they changed? I recall seeing the 2.0 D4D being at 60k - but nothing on the 2.2 D4D?

Braxton (& family) :D :P :crybaby:

All new Toyota petrol and diesel engines are chain driven.

Only need replacement if stretched. Never changed one yet :D

Keep an eye on your oil level if its a diesel though.

Cheers for that Mart.

Strange that you mention the oil consumption. The manual says that the engine will run on either 'regular' or 'fully synthetic oil'. We are running 07 verso on synthetic.

One significant difference between the Lexus 220d (which had the 175bhp of same engine as in the Verso) is that under acceleration there does appear to be significantly more discharge from the back box than was evident in the Lexus. I am putting this down the the particulate filters in the Lexus exhaust - however I will be getting the garage to have a look at it at the 10k interim service. Engine is using 'some' oil - but not what i could call excessive. I topped the engine with 1L of synthetic at 4k. Now on 6.5k and no further topping necessary.

Incidentally, on a round trip from home to Newcastle upon Tyne car returned 58mpg at a steady 80mph using cruise and changing gear under 2500 revs. :-)
