No Main Head Lights

hi there , just wondering if any body can help me i have not got any main headlights working on my car which is a toyota avensis 53 plate t3x petrol model side lights work ok high beam works ok so does the spot lights and the fog lights it is when i turn the setting on to the main headlights they dont come on i checked the fuses and checked the bulbs all are fine also when i press the button for the rear window heated screen that does not work either

I don't have my manual to hand but there may be another fuse, especially if the rear window heater isn't coming on either.

I would look into that circuit as you have checked the bulbs (by replacing them I presume?)

It could be the actual main stalk switch but with the rear heater also not working it would be a bit too co-incidental.

I'd look for the window heater fuse first, let us know how you get on ;)

Could be the headlight relay. That will probably be in the fuse box.

:thumbsup: Try that too.

If you're lucky there might be another relay the same (so you could swap it over to check).

i have had a look in the owners manual and cant find any thing about the relay or where it might be in the fuse boxes

On older cars the relay numbers and their locations are marked on either the outside, or the inside of the fuse box lid.

Rossi46's suggestion of a fuse is more likely TBH, because they're designed to fail, whereas the relays are supposed to be designed to last for evAR.

Where in Nottinghamshire are you; I may be able to recommend a dealer or independent garage to you.
