Ok, keep calm there, (and as we used to say in life saving classes - keep your hands under the water and kick your legs :D )

This is the stuff you want from Anchorman's post:-

The issue regarding Dual Mass Flywheels relates to RAV4 CLA20 and CLA21 models (early diesel vehicles) and was found to be that under hard use (towing etc) the flywheel securing bolts were unable to provide sufficient tightness. This was remedied by an improved flywheel and revised fastening and tightening processes, which were introduced into RAV4 vehicle production from August 2002. The improvements were made from VIN numbers,

JT EYG20V400009863

JT EHG20V600026183

JT EHG20V606013132

So I think your car should have the DMF "improvements".

Cheers

Sorry!

Had to sacrifice some time on here and spend a little time with wifey but now she's nodded off and is oblivious to my whereabouts.

As shcm says you are clear for the flywheel fixings but you will have to delve further to see where this very bad vibration is coming from. Does it do it stationary by revving the engine?

:lol2: :lol2: :lol2: "noticed a lot of rattles" and " it does not sound like engine rattles" - your wife wouldn't have had a baby without you noticing???

Either that or yer motor has been used as an overnight refuge by a homeless baby who sells rattles for a living!

Sorry - couldn't resist that!

On a different view, it could be CVs stiff due to a lay-up or the centre propshaft bearing where its supported in the middle. I would expect those only on a longer spell laid up.

Enjoy the peace and quiet!
