hey ppl, i need some help here. ive got some kinda of burning smell from my car, DEF from the engine bay area bcos i opened up the bonnet yesterday and the smell is DEF noticable from that area, it also gets inside the car sometimes. Its DEF not the oild level bcos i just checked it and its normal. n e other suggestions cud it b? i still hav warranty. BUT like most of u know i just fitted coilovers onto the car and i think my warranty wud void if i take it to a toyota dealer. so i mite get it checked somewhere else and if its MAJOR ill swap the coilovers bak to the standard suspension and take it to Toyota.

But if n e body has n e suggestion wot it cud b it wud help. This smell started to appear AFTER fitting the coilovers.

Hope u lot can help

Thanks

you definitely sure it's not clutch burn smell or brake burn?

Im pretty sure its not clutch, bcos clutch burn usualy stinks of POO and brakes also tend to smell of POO, my cousin was saying it cud b the Lube on the anti roll bars burning bcos its really close to the engine, but not sure yet. im hoping it is the lube burning ;)

Are you sure it's not your tyres rubbing off the arches!?!?:lol::lol:

Seriously though, I'm sure it's not a huge problem. Did you do something as simple as leaving a rag lying around the engine bay or something silly like that!?! Been known to happen... but not by me of course! :D

Well i looked around my car just now and i cudnt see n e leaking or n e thing like, but wen i looked under my car, i noticed my catback looked a bit wet, not sure if its that, BUT ive also noticed a sound on 1st and 2nd gear, its wen i moving REALLY SLOWLY, basically wen my lifting the clutch really slowly out of the bighting point and stepping on the accelerator and i hear a knocking sound, tbh i cud hear it bfor i fitted the coilover, but cud neva hear it all the time and it eventually went away, but since last week i started hearing it more and more. i

m gna get my friend and cousin to hav a look at it during the weekend. i cant get my jack under the car bcos its soo low so i cudnt hav a proper look. if the worse comes to worse, im actually tempted to take the car down to fensport and let them hav a look, also maybe ill get to see the famous Celica :D

Also if it is the tyres rubbing into the arch i will find out on sunday wen my cousin helps me raise the car, i think the cars dropped a little bit more so its the tyres r rubbing all the time wen i hav some1 in my car weighing ova 11stones lol

some bad news lad - fensport only sell parts...... jack the side up slightly with sissor jack from boot then you find you can get trolley jack under the front. I got knocking noise when changed springs - droplinks dont seem to like being removed so replaced them and knocking went. also if you tighten the droplinks with the car raised you must retighten with the car on the ground as they dont sit right when car is raised. put car on ramp and try and tighten links - remember to use an allen key.......

sorry mate but more bad news - when i bought mine 18 months ago i was chatting to one of the mechanics........ he was telling me a few things to watch for. he asked if i was gonna lower the car.... i said i was gonna use somme tte/eibach springs. he said that would be ok but one car they sold and the guy put coilovers on and the driveshafts went :( he advised me not to drop more than 30 - 35mm. i think if you drop it to far the wheels probably toe out too much and put excess strain on the shafts.
