Hi guys.

Am considering choosing a new Prius as my company car but had 2 questions before i do this:

1. Is any or all of the car manufactured in the UK?

2. What are your thoughts on it's environmental and mpg claims?

An answer tonight would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

2. Personally never reached 60mpg according to the display which resets every time you fill up. The mpg displayed gives me a rough idea. I think I reached 58 once during summer but currently getting average 50.5mpg because of the cold. Cold = less mpg. My summer average prob about 55ish mpg.

I have owned my Prius T4 for 3 months from new and am delighted with it. It is made in Japan and to my mind the overall quality is much better than the Avensis's I have previously owned. I have had no problems with it whatsoever unlike many niggling ones with the previous british built Avensis's I have had.

I must say that I am overall delighted with the car. Very quiet smooth and comfortable. Gear changes are hardly noticable - unlike the conventional automatics. Acceleration from 0 - 40 is, I would say on par with my previous 07 Avensis D4D. 40 - 60 not quite as good but cruises happily at 70.

As far as MPG goes, I have to agree that I think it would be hard to achieve 60mpg. Maybe with real conservative driving. However, you should have no problem getting at least 50mpg overall at the moment with an improvement when the warmer weather comes round.

I am sure you will not be disappointed if you decide on the Prius. - Just be careful when driving at speeds under 20 mph especially in car parks as no one hears you coming!

I am currently getting 39, go figure. It has never been brilliant, 44 in summer. I don't think it is economical so much as gadget-rich and emissions friendly. I would hesitate to buy another Prius but I would have another Toyota in a heartbeat.

39??? I don't think it's possible to get 39 unless you cane it everywhere! I regulary hear claims of between 50-55 MPG

So, that means either I'm a liar, or lead footed or my car has been crap from the start?

How about a 4 mile crawl to work every day and a 4 mile crawl back, that is pretty effective at killing your mpg. I suggest you try reproducing my journey before saying I am a lead footer.

Had my Prius T-spirit for nearly a month now. I think it is excellent in all respects. I am getting about 48 to the gallon.

My son owns a T-spirit as well and he has it as his business car and he also thinks it is an excellent car.

Easy tiger, don't shoot the messenger!

On a 4 mile "Crawl" I thought you would be running on Battery power most of the time. But of course in the words of your previous post, you could be lying. My colleague has had a Prius from new, he does quite a bit of Motorway work to be fair and he gets middle 50's most of the time. I also have customers who do a drudge of a journey and they claim 50 MPG, so maybe we are all liars together, or failing that, we're lead footed, short jorneyed, crap from the start drivers :D:

Eeh, if only the Battery would be that useful! It's downhill a lot of the way there and the charge is too full to use when I hit the flat, and of course, law of sod, it's uphill all the way back and it is always, always too cold / too hot / too tired/ cba to use the Battery. I'm thinking of having it shot, any takers?

It is made in Japan

Are you sure as many are made in China to meet the large worldwide demand ;)

MPG wise, I am in the early 50's most of the time as I'm trying to be smoother with my driving. My 07 Civic Type R, that I've just sold to get the Prius, would sometimes get 8mpg when driving it as it's supposed to be driven:o
