Alarm Keeps Going Off (no Recent Accidents)

Hi everyone,

Just since last night i've had some problems with my alarm. I set it as usual using the fob, (all doors closed, no recent bumps to suggest a door may be ajar) and about 5 mins after locking it, the alarm goes off. It turned off immediately after I pressed the unlock button on the fob. So I tried again. Locked it with the key fob and then a couple of hours later the alarm goes off, again!! So I leave the car to lock by itself automatically and the alarm doesn't go off again. I then unlock the car using the fob again in the morning and drive home. When I get home I again lock the car with the fob and the alarm goes off again after 5 mins. I've now left it to lock by itself and it seems OK because (I assume) the immobiliser won't be on. Only had the car (2001 reg) since last Oct and never had this problem until now.

Any ideas?

Is it possible I might just need to tighten the door catches and if so am I able to this myself?

Thanks.

The most probable reason for the Alarm tripping is something metallic in either the Centre Console or Cup Holders. Keys or Coins are almost always the culprits. The Alarm Sensor is located under the Centre Console and the sensitivity can be adjusted if necessary.

Thanks,

That makes sense!! We have just recently joined a gym and I put my membership card in the centre cup holders. Maybe there is something in that that keeps tripping the alarm. Thanks, i'll try it.
