I Think I Made A Mistake Guys..

guys i need a lil advice... the other week i removed the snorkel from the corolla engine bay to fit my typhoon kit..

so i took the snorkel off to find it being connected to another pipe which (i think) goes just under the wing. i think it draws in cold air from the wing.

me being the dumbo i am tried to remove this extra pipe but without success.

now it stuck and the pipe is no longer in the right place!

so my question is?

1. is this pipe a cold air feed or used for another pupose?

2. can it be removed?

3. if so how?

4. if i leave it as it is or remove it what are the implications

you can remove this pipe - you must remove the wheel arch cover, then there is a clip on the pipe which attachs it to a leccy pump that comes on when you first start the car. move clip and release rubber pipe then the plactic unit must be pushed towards the engine side off the wheel arch as its a sliding attachment. once this is romoved when you start the car you will hear a wooshing noise - thats the cold start leccy pump - its turns off in under a minute depending on temperature. hope that helps

you wont get the wooshing noise as the pipe acts as a silencer - freaked me out when i removed it and got the wooshing noise...... until i realised what it was. its a good mod too make if you aint got an induction kit....... certaily feel the differenceand sounds a bit meatier too

are we talking about the old cold air feed for the old air box ? in the instructions when fitting the typhoon it says to take part of it out right , so i did but i left the part that went down towards the wheel. is this what we are talking about ? i may take it off on my 4 days off if it makes a nice noise :) need to know if im thinking about the same thing first :)

thats the bit i'm on about -the wooshing noise is when the fan is on...... its not a good noise and turns off after a short while..... i removed it to allow the original airbox to be able to suck air from the wheel arch at all times. dont think it will make a difference with the typhoon as most of the air that draws is from the engine bay?

Sorry bout this but is it the secondary air pump you removed? Is there a pipe from that to the air intake as well as the exhaust? Thought it was just the exhaust manifold

i think were looking at the end of the typhoon intake, just below you can see a silver round thing that is pointing at the end of the typhoon , has a silver clamp around it clamping it onto the origional cold air feed that goes down to the wheel arch.

i maybe wrong and i maybe looking at something else but i dont seem to have that on my car and also that was were my cold air feed was for my origional air box, i aint removed it from the car just left it in, i may take it out to see what the swooshing noise is all about lol :)

tbh i dont think i know what im talking about lol cant remember how mine went when i put my typhoon in, was only last week lol.
