Independant Servicing - Pattern Parts

I will be using an independent garage for the first time this year. Mechanic says he can use pattern parts for everything except the engine oil which he says he must get from Toyota as the Celica uses a special formula.

Is this correct? I thought any good quality semi-synthetic oil would be sufficient.

ideally you want blueprint parts. as for the oil i would go for a good quality full synthetic.

You are perfectly correct Mandy. I use Millers XSS 5W30 in my 140 which is £13.70 for 5 litres plus delivery from jsoils.

As regards pattern parts, Toyota Discs are rubbish but I would recommend a genuine Toyota Oil Filter is used.
