Induction Kit On A 98 Corolla

hey guys i've just bought an induction kit for my 98 corolla saloon with the 1.3 4EFE engine and as i was looking at putting it in i noticed what i think is a sensor from the standard airbox.i just need to know that if i put in the induction kit that it wont mess up the engine management or put on the engine warning light!!

wat do i do from here!!!

pls help me!!!

ps is ae11 the correct code for my car??

The sensors your on bout is more than likely air flow meter,tells the ecu how much air is coming into the engine. A mate of mine took his out when he put an induction kit in his escort few years back, car went into limp home mode and wouldn't start after that. Had to laugh when he told me what he'd done! Sure put it in but be careful not to damage the sensor,if the light comes on take it out. On my car if you remove the bat neg and it wipes the code and turns off the light. Could be an air temp sensor also,i dont know is that all the same unit on your car

i can tell you that youe engine is a MAP engine (like mine) which probably doesn't mean anything too you. What it does mean though is that the sensor in the air box is just for temperature, telling the engine roughly how hot the incoming air is. for richer running place it some where cold in the Engine bay, for leaner running place it somewhere warm, but for ideal running conditions keep it in or by the air filter.
