Trouble With My Clutch

Recommended Posts

Posted

I drove my 1.0 Aygo to work the other day and all was fine. I went out at lunch time and the gears seem to be much harder to select. You don't have to really force them, but they're def not as smooth as they were. Also, when I put the clutch down, there's a bit of a bangin sound (makes my car sound like an old diesel van).

Bearing in mind, I've only done 23,000 miles, I'm gutted. It's in at my Toyota dealership today. They are going to take the clutch out, but they've said if it's just cos it's worn, I'm gonna have to Shell out money. I honestly don't drive it hard so surely it can't have worn down yet.

Has anyone else had this problem?

If its the clutch, let us know on the costs?

If it is the clutch, I'd kick up a fuss, '20 odd thousand miles and the legendary Toyota build quality lets you down' . Try this, especially if its less than 3 year old. I've had cars for over 60k miles and never had to replace a clutch, only cars I know have had a new clutch are 5+ year old high mileage cars, or tuned motors.

Just sent you a PM but i'll post it on here.. Clutch was worn on mine last year and Toyota Replaced it for free under warranty. I leant in my car so that contributed to it alot so even if you have worn it they should still replace it in your warranty.

Matty, what mileage was yours when it went and what were the symptoms? I read in AutoExpress that its not a Warranty item for alot of manufacturers as you can burn them out through bad driving style as well.

i think it was about 12,000 , symptoms were that it wouldn't go into 2nd gear or reverse without a fight and sumtimes slipped out of gear too.

I think they fixed it cos it wasn't just a typical burnt out clutch. cos it wasn't slipping or anything.
