Help Got Heavy Pinking/ Knocking

Have rebuilt engine runs great on tick over but when i rev quickly i get heavy pinking. Have tried finding fault codes but i think E M Light has blown, could it be knock sensor, What symptems do they give when blown thanks Kev

Make sure yor timing is correct first. A over advanced timing will also cause pinking. Make sure you follow the toyota guidelines for bypassing the ECU auto advance as this is the only way you will get the static timing right. If that checks ok and you still have the issue then change the knock sensor but my bet would be on the timing
