Can i find out if an engine i an import from the engine number?

im tyin to buy a spare engine from a breaker here and want to know if im gettin the rite 1. thanks

Would it make any difference anyway whether it's from a JDM car or a UK one?

I thought the engines were fundamentally the same, with perhaps different ancilliarys / ecu mappings etc.

true! the turbos are different too i think
