Looking to buy a car that has 9 months toyota warranty left and the owner says he yook out gap insurance - anyone know if this Gap insurance is transferable?

Extended warranty - never buy them, but what is the going rate.

Rav 4 55 plate short wheel base.

While I am here, the car has been shielded? coated? whatever that stuff is called. there are a few stone chips on the bonnet - dab of manufactures paint stick ok? - will it take etc.

thanks for everyones help so far - to be honest I dont think I have found a group like this where everyone is helpful rather than awkward.

cheers

Nick

Sorry about our 3 door petrol expert, he makes a lot more sense when he repies in the middle of the night. As well as being absolutely bonkers he is nocturnal so tends to ramble in daylight hours. He is also recovering from a very traumatic trip to your neck of the woods where somebody managed to help him make what was not one of his best decisions in life - despite the warnings.

However, on to your subjects. I don't know about either GAP or warranty insurance but unless the Supagaurd or Diamond Bright or whichever one it is was done very recently don't worry about it as it will be gone anyway. It is just a polymer wax that is applied and mine was gone after about 3 months even using the very mild shampoo that they supply.

The touch up will be just fine.

I would say the Gap Insurance is brought at the same time as the finance and is not transferable. Has the last owner has it in his name. Unless you are taking over his finance payments. Gap insurance covers the GAP between what the vehicle is worth and what the insurance pay out on a total right off...Upto a maximum value of course....

The paint stick should suffice to cure the stone chips...unless they are deep gouges than a more professional approach is needed...

As anchorman has said...bothy has probably been at the nitrous bottle again....

This assumption is correct. GAP is. IMHO, only worth considering if you intend to keep the vehicle for the entire period of cover...usually 3 years.

Warranty is transferable; or at least was a few years ago when I sold my Celica; there was an admin fee which was £20 or £25 IIRC.

Why not just glue it back when you fish the rest out of the glass in the morning?

too late - I got said bit removed from toffee and handed it to the dentist this am. As most of the remaining tooth is a health hazard being an ancient toxic metal filling, she decided to glue stuff onto the remaining amalgam, using white goo and UV light to harden it. Had to do it in 4 layers....seems to have worked fine, so I asked her if she could spend a week doing the chassis work on ma Humber hawk!!
