Exhaust Problem

hi folks, newbi here requiring assistance.

I have a 1997 corolla gs. last night my exhaust decided it had enough and I had to drive home waking up the whole of glasgow. I had a look underneath today and it appears the front silencer has split clean away from the pipe. before I get the run around from a garage I wondered can this be repaired for the moment without having to replace the whole centre section?

If i need to replace should I head down to my local exhaust centre and have them do the job (a little worried that they do work that isn't often required) or pay the extra and go to the dealer.

any suggestions would be greatfully received.

well the dealer part for this car is £411 and thats not including labour (it was cheaper for me to just get my local exhuast shop to bulid me a new sytem re-using the existing cat)
