Inactive Prius Query

If a Prius is left unused, say for a month or two, would the electric motor's Battery become fully discharged. If so, would it still be serviceable and recharge once the car is used again ?

Also can the electric motor's Battery be charged either fully or partially by running the engine with the car stationary or does it require to be in motion to induce charging?

My normal non hybrid car during any lengthy period of inactivity, has a C- Tek Battery conditioner connected. This keeps the standard battery at full charge at all times.

acording to the owners manual the car should be started every 2 weeks so the engine will keep the HV battery at a good charging level. My battery died and I had to replace it possibly because the car was stationary for long periods of time and one of the multiple elements of the battery has died= fully discharged which would not allow the battery to recharge under any circumstancesAlso can the electric motor's battery be charged either fully or partially by running the engine with the car stationary or does it require to be in motion to induce charging?

The HV battery can be recharged when stationary by the engine but in P mode as in the N(neutre) mode IT CAN NOT BE CHARGED.

Thanks for that gniie, is the following then correct.

It sounds that if the car is not driven for long periods, it would at least require starting up once or twice a fortnight running the engine in 'P' mode until it is thoroughly warmed up ( i.e. when the cooling fan cuts in) Not very green but that hopefully would keep the HV Battery sufficiently charged ??

Not to sure about the fan( I never heard mine before). I would assume it is much better for the engine if you take the car out for a spin but if you can't then I would assume that you should let it run in P for @ 10 min. The engine will cut out when it is warm and the Battery is charged. Also take in consideration that my Prius is the second generation and maybe the latest model might not require to be recharged as often.

Maybe somebody with a newer model can confirm.....
