Mr-s Front Badge

I've been reading threads about removing, re-painting and then refitting your front (J-Spec). I'd like to know - has anyone removed completely and filled the holes left by the J-Spec Badge for a smooth bonnet(!).

I'd like to do this - but I am by no means any good with paint. I have a stone/chip repair kit in Toyota Astral black, and that's about the limit of my painting experience.

Bearing in mind the size of the holes left behind when removing the J-Spec Badge, is it worth filling and painting the holes with the touch up paint I already have (it's an exact match for the body work).

Cheers guys!

As far as I know the badges are only held in place with strong double sided tape so all you really need is some dental floss (yes dental floss) to get it off, then just clean off the glue

I don't know about the J-spec Badge, but the cowboy hat on mine is also held by two small pins.

Thanks for the replies - I'm sure that both types of Badge are held on with 2 small pins/posts (both pins are in the same position on each badge). I've looked into buying a Black J-Spec (or maybe making my own from the Blue one already fitted) and all info says that there ARE 2 posts/pins on all badges.

I'm gonna go the route of filler and touch up paint for a smooth bonnet. If the worst comes to the worst, I'll just pop out the filler and put the Badge back on.

After painting it Black, obviously... ;)

  • 3 weeks later...

I bought my black j-spec Badge from a guy in the USA (via the mr2roc forum).

The cowboy hat came off no bother (some recommend dental floss)...then a wipe with thinners to remove all traces of glue....then the Badge was just popped on using the same locating holes (these badges come with a sticky pad back).

The guy does them in all sorts of colours (red, yellow, silver, green, black etc)

Cost me about £25 posted......I think they look far smarter than the cowboy hat B) ....and I always see people looking at it to try and work out what type of car it is

This was one I sold (ordered 2 by mistake....there was a slight imperfection on this one though)
