Corolla E12 Cigarette Lighter Surround Light Don't Light Up

ahh i dunno what i did but when i turn on the side lights the cigarette lighter surround light doesn't light up and i know it ain't the fuse because i was knocking it and it lit up, then i was knocking it again and it turned off...i repeated it over and over and its the same result i don't know if nefins loose but the lighter works fine though =S any suggestions? thanks

did you check the small bulb mounted to the cigarette lighter? maybe it's broken

nah its not broken because if i move it abit it lights back up :S ah nvm not too bothered abt it thanks tho

This normally happens just before a bulb dies but also when something is lose. don't worry too much about it unless you want to see it cos you will have to take the whole center console out to remove the bottom of your dash board to change the bulb or even check it

It's very easy to get to, will only take about 10 seconds!

Remove the ashtray.

Pull up the plastic trim surrounding the gearlever and look at the connections, could just be loose.
