I'm new to all this, hope the picture comes out.!

Recently bought a Gen 6 Celica and have no paperwork at all for it. I'm trying to find out about the Model and the engine.

Dont know as much as other people on here and someone will probably come along that can give you more details. It looks to me like you are lucky enough to have one of the Red Top fabled Beams engines, quite a beastie. Search the forum on here and I am sure you will find the topic of red tops and beams engines. There is also posts on here about model types. Its been discussed loads of times.

Spend some time searching the forum there lots of info there.

Also try celicatech.com

Yep, Redtop Beams - you've hit the jackpot mate! 2l VVTi engine, pushing approx 200BHP. They are VERY rare, look after it!

THey're not exactly rare.....

But yes that is a Beams engine you have, what year is it and i'll tell you what model it is, 98 its an ss3 and a 96 its an ss2. My ss3 ws dyno'd at 181.6 bhp at the flywheel, but that was after a very hard drive and all cars that were dyno'd a second time after they had been given time to cool down gained an extra 20bhp so my car should be running around 201.6 but i dont have it proven at that.

Just checked your picture against pictures of my engine and it looks identical....

The SS2 came with 3SGE non beams, the BEAMS 3SGE found in the SS3 replaced the 3SGE found in the SS2. No beams engines were put into ss2s.
