I almost changed the car a few weeks after getting it because of the crap seat materials. I can not understand why designers spend so much time perfecting ergonomics, safety, design etc and then spend £5 on seatcover material that looks good for 1 minute and then drive the owners insane.

I have 2 kids and they are generally tidy (most food is now banned in the car) but even a simple thing like water drops, which inevitable fall when the door open up on a wet day, will stain the covers. It looks like dried milk.

Whats wrong with velour type fabrics that can take almost anything thrown at them, both my previous cars (Volvo's) looked like new when they were 10 and 11 years old.

At the time of going 'spare' I spoke to friends who have Audi-Golf -Astra- and Fords, its the same with ALL modern cars, unless you have leather seats.

Maybe I should cover them with clingfilm, melt it with a heat gun, this would make them easy to look after ;)

hi Pjotr

yes it is head ache of it. I agree with you that MrT has spent a lot of money but the interrior looks like an ancient car (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

today i serviced the car, arrived in my garage and saw white stains on the rear seat cover -- oh my god. i am really fed up with it. i am going to change the car and exactly on one that has leather seats. sorry for emotions -- but Toyota loses her face day by day having offered such cars to the customer.

cheers/igor ;)

Hi

I know from experience that the front seats of most modern cars have an airbag which deploys to protect the driver from a side impact. (it usually says SRS on a label on the seat) The stitching in the part of the cover which is directly over the airbag is designed to give way as the airbag bursts through. I would bear this point in mind when considering changing your seat covers.

Regards Chris
