Checking Oil Level

When do you guys check your oil level?

My Toyota dealer says to check it first thing in the morning (which i do) but the handbook says to bring the car to operating temperature, wait a few minutes then dip it for oil....surely all of the oil wouldnt be in the sump in a few minutes???

GM say to wait at least 5 minutes before dipping...

once a week - bring car upto temperature, go av a brew then go and check level. always check with warm engine and give the oil time to return to the sump to get an accurate reading.
