Advice On Buying A Rav4

Hi guys,

First time poster so be gentle.

As the topic description says, I'm 90% of the way to buying a 2006 2-2D RAV4 XT4. Went to have a view and a drive today and was impressed, however I have a question that hopefully one of you will be able answer. The car seemed to have some sort of navigational aid, with a button on the stereo. The wife couldn't get it to work, although I'm pretty sure it does, she's justnot familiar. When I downloaded the PDF brochure for a brand new XT4 from the Toyota website it said that the navigational aid formed a third of the 'technical pack' add on option for an XT3 and XT4. The other two being DAB radio and bluetooth handsfree. However, when you spec. out a new RAV4 XT4 from scratch on the main website, there is not technical pack add-on. I'm a little confused, I'm assuming this was available when the car was new in 2006. My wife's keen on the bluetooth when travelling, so I'm keen to know. The garage is not a Toyota garage and I'm waiting for a call back with a p/x quote on my car. Can anyone tell me if the technical pack on this 2006 model's spec has the bluetooth?

Cheers guys

Hi and welcome to TOC, I take it you are referring to the Navi button. I think this button is generic, and may

not neccessarily mean it has sat nav. I not sure bit if I remember right the sat nav only comes as standard on

the XT5 and T180. If its on the one you are viewing then it must have been an extra. If its not, dont let put you

off a great car, buy a portable sat nav with blue tooth (mine is TomTom go 520 with blue tooth) they can be

bought very reasonably. Good luck. ;)

Cheers, interesting. Is £15995 for a 2006 (06/06) 2-2D XT4 with 9k cheap? From what I can gather it is. It's not from a Toyota dealer. I may just take the first advice and buy a seperate Sat Nav unit. I would probably be looking at up to £150. The salesman never called me back on giving a price for mine. I'm still hopeful.

Thanks guys.

They've come down now. According to Auto Express the target price for a brand new XT4 is less than £20k.

Offer them £14500 and hope to get it for nearer £15k.

I may well do if they offer me a poor p/x. Otherwise I'll trade in and buy a sat-nav.

That Tom Tom 520 that Dave got is about £150 in todays paper so don't worry about that. The main thing is to dig in with your deal. You have to be as ruthless as they are.

Good luck.
