Hi

I know this has probably been posted more than once but i'm looking for confirmation on the best tyres to buy for my car. 16's on the back and 15's for the front.

Toyo T1R's?

I am looking to buy them soon so just want to check with you guys first before i go and buy the wrong ones!

Cheers!

Everyone is different and as such we have our own preferences, the most popular tyres (in no particular order) seem to be Yokohama, Toyo and Goodyear F1.

Could you advise on alternative sizes of tyres?

I have read a few posts on tyre sizes but i'm still unclear on which sizes i should be going with,

currently 215/45/16 on the rear which i'm finding difficulty in getting any type of tyre for, is there

a close alternative?

Thanks in advance!

Jase

225/40x16.. but just as hard to get... and remember you need to keep the same make and model of tyre in all 4 corners or it could detract from the car's handling.

Thank-you for getting back so quickly, i really need to get this sorted asap. I had to drive home from work the other morning after only a flurry of snow and my little car was all over the place, i'm probably the first person on here to have a double decker bus overtake their MR2 :-(

I have found a few choices of tyre on that size so fingers crossed i can get them ordered in the next few days, only had the car a couple of weeks and havent been able to drive it properly yet as a result of the almost slick bridgestones that it has currently!

Cheers Again!

I have been looking at getting new tyres lately and found the most recommended/popular were:

Toyo Proxes T1-R 225/40/16 (rear) and 195/50/15 (front) - Good tyre for the price

Bridgestone Potenza Re040 (as factory fitted post-03) - 215/45/16 and 185/55/15 - Apparently still a superior tyre due to the stiffer side walls and better grip (but they do tramline)

Alternatively...if you can afford them, there is the Yokohama Advan Neovas as fitted to the S1 Elise....only available in 195/50/15 and 225/45/16 sizes and are supposed to be the best dry weather tyres you can get, they also apparently cope brilliantly with track work and are as said to be as good in the wet as the F1s.

Another MR2 Roadster forum are starting a group Buy on these at @ £384....which although far more expensive than the Toyos, they are not far off the OEM Bridgstone price!
