Sounds similar to a problem I've got wit my Gen 7 2000, it rattles/clicks or somthin but only at cerain engine revs, higher or lower revs and the noise dissappears. It sounds fine when idling. think i'm gonna go get it checked out, and hopefully it wont be the dreaded oil consumption problem and all that comes with that.

have u got any further in finding whats up with urs?

I've had a couple of exhaust heat shields come loose over the years on my Gen7. The large rear one has been replaced once after one of the mounting bits snapped off and then the same shield lost one of it's clips. It sounded like a hollow metallic rattle / buzzing, but could only hear it at certain revs.

I fixed it using one of those plasterboard fixing bolts. Now I've got the one up by the exhaust manifold that's loose. I hadn't really noticed this, except a faint buzzing noise on odd occasions, but then Toyota mentioned it to me that it was loose after they had the car in for a service... nice of them to fix it! :(

Think it really needs to be on a ramp to get to this one.
