Smoking Surf

Hi, just a new member looking for help. My 93 2.4 surf is very smokey on start up when cold also has a misfire when cold, any help would be gratefully appreciated.

cheapest option 1st, id go for a fuelfilter and oil filter change 1st. when doing the fuel filter add a bottle of fuel treatment to the filter and it will flush the injectors and pump.

Problem with the fuel cold start circuit? Such as the cold start injector allowing too much fuel into the chamber causing it to run rich hence the smokey start.

Anyone else think this is likely?

Your glowplugs are knackered.

Try waiting for the warning beeep before starting the engine. the glowplug light goes out too soon.

(FYI the warning beeep is only on the 2.4, not the 3.0)
