TOOK MY FISRT LOOK AT AN N REG PREVIA TODAY 136,OOO MILES ON THE CLOCK AND £1395 ANY THROUGHTS NICE AND CLEAN BUT IS THIS HIGH OR IS THERE MORE OUT THERE SEEM TO BE HARD TO COME BY BOTH PRIVATE OR DEALERS

Go take a look at it again and check WITH THE ENGINE COLD

1. When cold open the coolant resevoir cap and look for signs of oil in the water. If there is any don't even consider it

2. Look for any signs of rusty water having been sprayed around the resevoir and in the surrounding bay and also underneath the front of the car. If there is any sign walk away

3. Under the passengers seat is the engine inspection bay. Lift this and take off the oil filler cap and look for any signs of a milky white substance if this exists walk away

4. Take out the oil dip stick and check that the oil looks ok, if it has any signs of a milky substance walk away

5. If it is an automatic take out the auto transmission dipstick. The oil should be a reddish colour if it is black it is a sign that the gearbox is way overdue a service. This could mean the rest of the car hasn't been looked after so well.

Then

5. Take someone with you and ask them to watch the exhaust. Start the car, if the engine has been started from absolute cold and they see any water come out of the exhaust either immediately or within the first 10 -15 seconds walk away

6. Take the car for a LONG drive at speed on the motor way and watch the temp gauge it should sit slightly under half and stay there. If as you accelerate it starts creeping up walk away

7. After your long drive stop the car and open the bonnet, listen for any hissing coming from the water resevoir if there is walk away.

8. Check for rust around the wheel arches and generally around the car.

9. Take a look under the rear of the car and check the general rust status

10. Check for uneven wear on the tyres, these cars are heavy on shock absorbers and this will be a sign that they need changing.

11. Also during your drive check for any signs of wheel alignment issues. If the car pulls to either side there is a problem

12. Apply brakes hard and see if the car pulls left or right, if it does this is a sign the suspension bushings are worn

13. Listen for heavy knocks coming from the front when going over speed humps as this will indicate worn anti roll bar bushes

13. If whilst driving you feel or hear a vibration or rumbling noise near your left foot it could be the SADS bushes are on their way out.

14. Also check that the auto box changes smoothly and cleanly, these cars have lovely boxes, if it is not smooth or feels like it is slipping there may be an issue

If it is a very clean car then this price is OK but if any of the above is present use them to bring the price down if you really want the car as you will end up spending to fix.
