2003 Avensis Unresponsive Key Fobs. Help

Hi all, i have a 52 plate 2003 avensis.

yesterday the car wouldn't unlock or lock with either key fobs.

only way i could get in was using the key in the lock but that causes the alarm to sound continuously.

just tried it today and all is working fine as it should. could it be a water problem?.

does anyone know where i could start looking to solve this problem.

This has happened to me with a Carina and with the Avensis. I was told that some commercial and domestic alarms can interfere with the fob and it is true that some parts of town are worse than others. No cure that I know of though.
