Bumper Needs Re-painting

Hello there,

Last week my best half went to ASDA. Left the car in the carpark etc.

In the morning to my unpleasant suprise I found that someone had hit the car on the rear left side. As a result of the impact the bumper has bent upwards and the paint (Carlo blue metalic) has cracked. The diameter of the spot is about 10 cm. The bumper is as new, beneath the peeled off paint, but the question in front of me is how to get away without shelling out at least £ 200 quid. The car is Totoya Avensis T3-X Reg 03 D-4D 2.0l

Can a body kit from Halford's solve the problem in a reasonable way? Do I need some special equipment, polish, etc? Do you have any DIY guide?

Thank you in advance!

Cheers,

John

PS If I would not be able to recover the damage, I will most probably give Mr. T a call. I would prefer spending the money there as I would get the best service.

Anyone?

Exactly the same thing happened to me and that was in !Removed! ASDA's carpark as well! But mine was on the front bumper and took it down to the black plastic!

I think a different type of paint is used on the plastic bits that is cellulose based rather than oil/spirit based as used on the metal.

For small scuffs and blemishes Mr t used to give you a pack of those sticker thingies but not so with the new un's.

I'm going to wait until someone hits me (or I hit someone else)which invariably happens and get it done then.

I've heard good things about chipsaway. I'm going to use them for a small job on my wheelarch.
