My 2000 Celica Gen 7 engine is turned on on my drive at the moment as my alarm just started going off randomly!

I can get it to stop by turning the engine on as it is now, but I dont want to turn it off in case it goes off again!

Can anyone please help?

Left any keys, coins or anything else metalic in the ash tray or centre console drinks holders? That's a common cause of alarm problems on the Gen 7.

I take it you checked all doors / boot / bonnet properly closed.

Does the interior light go off when you close the doors? If you fold down the back seats can you see if the boot light goes off when you close the boot.

Failing that, bonnet sensors can be problematic.

is it true that there is a sensitivity adjustment somewhere on the Gen 7s? if so could someone point me in the right direction for this control please?

Just rang my local Toyota and they said that I can't adjust the sensitivity on the alarm  anyone sure you can do this on the 7Gen?

The adjustment Screw is underneath the Centre Console IF you have a Factory fitted Alarm, Toyota are talking <the spuds of lurrrrvve>s.

thanks Scarlett. Its worrying that the manufacturer of the car don't know the cars inside out tbh.

I'll try taking the centre console off by the gear stick this weekend then to see if I can find the screw. It looks like I have to take all the plastic off.

Is there a way to tell if I have anything more than a factory fitted alarm? As the RAC man seemed to think with having 2 flashing lights that I might have a Thatcham approved alarm as well fitted retrospectively.

If your Alarm is Key activated, it's Factory Fitted. If you have a separate Fob, it will be retro fitted.
