Corolla 1997 Lock Problem

i have a 1997 corolla 1.3 sportiff model, and i have been having problems with the driver side door lock. It is allowing me to lock the car, with both the lock itself and the central locking mechanism working fine, but i am unable to turn the key in the lock to unlock the door (so have to get into the car from the passenger side!). i have tried to use WD40 to de-clog the lock, but this was unsuccessful. Has anyone got any ideas as to the best course of action???

The lock on our sportif is behaving strangely too; not quite the same problem, but similar ish.

Unlocking is fine IIRC, the problem is locking it.

Sometimes when you try to turn the key it won't move, but if you turn it the opposite way it will move without problems, then you can turn it back to centre, and forwards without problems. It's as if something is jamming the movement, but turning the wrong way initially frees it up.

It doesnt have a dead lock that i am aware of no.

I have tried wriggling it, with no success. I did manage to unlock it randomly one day last week, but then could not repeat the process since then!

Im at a loss as to what to do to be honest!!
