Rust On Alloy Wheel Nuts

Hi

After only a couple of months i noticed that the Wheel nuts on my alloys

( Auris TR ) are starting to rust....

I contacted the Dealer ... Arnold Clark who could not help as aparently

these are not covered under the warranty....

Toyota wouldn't budge till i complained.

Toyota said they were un aware of this issue but said they would change them

as a good will gesture !!!

On return to the dealer they now tell me its a common fault

Anyone else had problems with the alloy wheel nuts ?

Stuart  :P

Nope. I've owned six Toyotas and never had a rusty nut. Arnold Clark aftersales is pretty low on the Rickter scale.

Yep 5K miles and I have rust on just about every wheel nut and dont use an acid wheel cleaner just car shampoo and a jet wash. Glad they replaced yours , as this will help getting mine replaced :)

Yeah ive had this problem too but again warranty will not cover this problem as it is cosmetic,we will see how cosmetic when im having to bash the wheel brace on with a hammer at the side of the motorway in the rain i think the functionality should also be considered plus the rusty stains on my alloys :censor:

I've just picked up a 57' plate Auris with 7.5k on the clock and noticed rusted wheel nuts. Not all the nuts are rusted though, just 1 per wheel (excluding the locking nuts thank god). Should I replace these rusted wheel nuts or is it just surface rott?

hi stuartgr

i am sure ive seen on this forem that owners have had rusting wheel nuts replaced free under warranty

more than one case

my t-spirit (2007) is ok,but more chance if a car is not garaged overnight.and winter salt does not help.

a vw derby i had the nuts were covered with plastic caps.

on one of these forams someone was looking for plastic caps to fit to their wheel nuts. wether they were succesfull i dont know.

Hi.

I had mine replaced when I took it in to Benfield Wakefield for it's first mot. They told me that it was customer services that had authorised it.

had mine replaced at benfield leeds under warranty no problem

maybe these nuts are only covered under warranty in the first year of a three year warranty as some items are.

my auris was 27 months old when benfield toyota leeds replaced mine under warranty, they have been great with my warranty claims.
