Question About The Sat-nav

HI All,

just got a Toyota Avensis Reg04 with the sat-nav system.

I got a map disc with the car keys.

I am not sure if there is an actual disc inside the DVD hence I have a spare, or if I actually need to insert it to have the Sat-nav system enabled.

Could not find a way of extracting the disc inside (if its there), or insterting the disc I have outside.

the user manuals (both for the car and for the sat nav system) say nothin about it.

BTW - does it play normal DVD....like movies etc?

thanks to all.

another non related question - does this model have parking sensors? they dont seem to work (if there)

thanks again

Jon

Hi, regarding installing the Sat-Nav disc...sit in the rear passenger sit on the n/side. the disc drive is under the front n/side pass. seat. Move it forward as far as it goes .There is a blanking plate facing you ,remove this by pulling two plastic knobs towards you. There are one on each side. The one on the left I found fiddly to get hold of, so I used a pair of long nosed pliers to grasp it, but take care not to damage the knob. Then make sure the ignition key is inserted in ignition on the ACC position ,turn slide on disc drive to the left and if the drive has a disc inside it will pop out.You can load the disc close the slide and replace the protective blank and you should have a working Sat-nav. Examine the reat bumper if there are three or four round caps on back bumper then there is a sensor fitted. I had to have one fitted independently, the guy travels to your home address, cost was around £180. though having seen them fitted a handy man could do it . Good luck I would not put anything in the drive except the map discs.. The CD plays MP3's and shows the menu on the screen. HertsBoy

thanks again

thanks for the response. it helped a lot.

I found that there was a CD inside the drive, but could not find how to take it out. do you think it might be faulty unit?

The Sat Nav seems to work (have not tested it intensively yet)

thanks again

Jon
