Satnav - Dashboard Mounting Question

Have just ordered a Garmin satnav for my E12 '55 plate Corolla and am now considering where to put it. I don't want to use the windscreen mount and would prefer to mount it on the dash somewhere. A Brodit Proclip appears to be the universally popular mounting solution and my preference is to put the satnav over the airvent immediately to the right of the radio. That way both driver and front passenger can see the screen easily.

However, whenever I search for the appropriate Brodit Proclip for the '55 plate UK Corolla on the web it always shows the mount I want as being for the Corolla in Australia for some reason and displays a picture of a dash that certainly doesn't look like mine. Even Brodit's own website does this despite my making clear it is for the UK Corolla

So, question is, has anyone else been through this and, if so, did you manage to get a Brodit Proclip that actually fits over the relevant airvent?

Any other comments about satnav mounting that avoids using the windscreen are very welcome :)

do a google search for proclip usa , have mines set up over the right hand air vent, smart, and very secure.

05 e12 corolla, same as yours :D

Thanks for the response which was helpful. I would still prefer to install the Garmin over the vent immediately to the right of the radio and, although I checked out the website you mention, I still see that same old photo of a Corolla dash that looks nothing like mine - I've attached a photo here. Brodit's own website describes this as the dash for the Corolla in Australia although I specifically entered UK info which does show all UK mount alternatives bar this one

Is there anyone out there who has bought a Brodit Proclip mount for their E12 Corolla for the airvent in question and which fits! I'm reluctant to order the one that I am shown because the dash is just not the same. :crybaby:

There must be someone out there with a similar E12 Corolla and who has bought (or attempted to buy) a Brodit Proclip mount for the same airvent.

Having checked again using the photograph I have decided that the difference amounts to the actual radio insert and that the surround looks the same as mine so have taken a flyer and ordered the brodit proclip. I'll report back when it arrives (currently on back order).

The picture definitely shows a different dash to mine in that the radio insert is different and the bottom centre part is different (I have the silver finish T-Spirit version) though I don't think that aspect is relevant to fitting the proclip.

Just to clarify, a picture of my dash is below. As you can see, very different from the one that the Brodit database uses though, as I say, I suspect that the surround that the radio fits into is (hopefully) the same size

Garmin do a bean bag dash board mount for there sat navs .

I have ordered a proclip for a verso and I am waiting for delivery as they have no stock in at the moment.!!!

Did you order a move clip with yours as I believe it makes removal easier as you can just slide the sat nav and the mount off the proclip and put it out of the way

Proclips and brodit products are available in Europe!! I used DSL developments and there are other companies in the UK that do them

Hi bjw, thanks for the reply and useful links. In th end I also used DSL Developments (and am also awaiting stock to come in). I ordered a proclip to go over the vent to the right of the radio and a mount (for the Garmin Nuvi 760). I believe the mount facilitates clipping on the original Garmin holder from which the Garmin can just be removed (connecting cable goes into the holder rather than the satnav itself so removal is less fiddly).

As a matter of interest, what is a beanbag mount? I've seen them referred to but no mention of what they look like or actually are.
