I Have A Problem With My T180

I have been changing my tires at my local dealer when I have had 2 punchers and just 2 down to were and tear.

Now my dealer had to change the wheel and tire due to them not having the equipment to change the tires,

the charge was about £120.00ish plus the VAT.

Well now they have the kit to change the tire, and I have just had a another puncher!

They now want to charge me £300.00ish what the hell is going on!

I can’t pay that for a new tire! What has other T180 owner done about this or have you just paid it!

Ash,this whole Tyre issue with T180,s is a very big bone of contention, no doubt other posters will shed light on the issue. Have a look on the Rav4 section for previous threads on this issue there are plenty to read about

Unfortunately that's in the right ball park, although a touch on the high side. I think I paid £200 +VAT when I had to have one changed. Others have paid a bit less, others more!! £120+ VAT the first time round looks like a right bargain!!

Bothy's somewhat unorthodox approach is absolutely right. How any of you T180 owners put up with this nonsense absolutely bewilders me. Toyota have got you at gunpoint and personally I would have non of it.

FACT - The T180 is probably the finest 4X4 soft roader on the market but I can't see how this business with the tyres meets EU anti competitive laws. To be fair, finding a solution to wheels that meet the performance requirements and the inability to store a spare of that size must have been a problem but come on - they could have done better than this, I bet the aftersales dept rubbed their hands and you loyal, faithfull customers are at their mercy.

I would make it a mission to go out and source some equivelent tyres and wheels and although I might have a bill for a grand or more I would unshackle myself from this fiasco and the payback time is 2 or 3 years. Don't worry about that TPWS, with electronics gurus like shcm we'll soon get around that. I reckon I could find the module and unplug it, thats a start!

On Saturday, I will go to RRG Toyota with a friend who wants a higher powered alternative to his X-Trail. If the LC proves too expensive, I will fight tooth and nail to keep him away from the flagship as I don't want to lose a friend. If I can agree something about these wheels then I will talk.

Now if you are prepared to keep coughing that sort of dough up well that's up to you.

Has anyone any ideas what us T180'ers can do collectivley to challenge Mr T?

Hasn't Duncs got something ongoing with them at the moment ...

There is an ongoing case with the run flat tyres which 'might' lead to some changes, as it's ongoing I can't provide too much information at the moment! ;)

Duncs, if you need any support on the case, there's plenty here :)

Thanks for the offer, but Toyota have been really helpful in my case! Toyota realise that the owners are caught in between the dealers and Toyota (or a rock and a hard place!).

Ash7jar, I'll pm you with some useful information.

Have they 'gagged' you Duncs?

Can you not reveal all?

Only the wife does that...

My case with Toyota is still on going, so I think it would be wrong to give too much away at the moment. I promise to publish the information in the future.
