Bloody Coppers

Just thought i would tell u about the little escapade i've just had.

I was driving down a 60mph speed limit road,(its a right twisty one as well!!). Came up to this sweeping right bend that tightens at the end, doing about 40 and decided to give it a bit as i was about halfway through. As i came round the bit that tightens at the exit in a beautiful sweeping motion (not breaking e speed limit i must add mr. moderator) there is only a bloody cop car parked up right in the road (not even any attempt to be on the verge away from traffick)

No bloody lights on either, they had pulled a couple of kids on a motorbike. I anchored on hard skidded a bit sideways, luckily the man who lives in my car who operates the lights and beeping noise got me out of trouble (not for the first time!!!).

The coppers ran out in front of me and started shouting about speeding (to which i pointed out that i wasn't) and a ticket for careless driving. Some people would be intimidated by this but not me. I pointed out his 'careless parking' (on a bloody nsl road) and the fact that he didn't have his flashing lights on.

funnily enough he didn't want to carry on the conversation with me anymore and waved me on my way.

O.k. maybe i was going what some people would consider fast for that bend but i was well in control till mr above the law got in my way. grrrr!!!

Rant over, thanx for lisning

you should challenge the ticket. take note of the officers number. this incident was caused by the poorly parked police car.

the speed in this case is irrelevant as he has no way to prove what speed you were going at. from your story it also sounds like he was parked in a blind spot and you couldn't see his car until you were on it.

He didn't give me a ticket in the end, i'm just peed off because he nearly caused the accident and started ball-aching me. Some people would have ended up with a ticket coz he thinks he's above the law and they would not have stood up to him like i did.

You can be sure that if you make a formal complaint your No. Plate will be circulated round all his mates who will seize any opportunity to give you a tug!!

Mark it down as a victory and leave it there!!

....half the traffic cops cant drive themselves ........

I've always found TRAFFIC cops to be very good drivers , beat bobbys in panda cars are a different matter for sure .

Was it a traffic cop who had pulled the motorbike ?

hate em i always have my car stripped searched....i drive at 30 on a 40 road i get pulled if i drive at 40 i get pulled if i drive at 45 on a 40 road i get pulled. If i stop on the yellow light before it goes red i get pulled....anything i do i can expect to get pulled if i drive like a learner i get pulled. If i drive like a madman ...im sure to get pulled. I got three points for having a low tyre tread after i was pulled for being on the phone he couldnt prove i was on the fone so he did me for something else on my BIRTHDAY ON THE DAY OF MY BIRTHDAY AND GUESS WAT ! IT WAS 1 TYRE ON A 06 CAR! which had just come back from an insurance claim which should have had its tyre change. No excuses no argument they dont lisen.

And they just dont spare me. Some do....but most of the time i am standing on the side of the road waiting in the cold as my car is shredded to pieces for searches and then given a rubbish story like...o ur car has been reported or routine check...

but yea speed checks aswell u cant win with em...

For one.

You should never drive faster than you can see - we all enjoy our cars - but a speed limit is not a target, rather a reccomended maximum, and while we're all quick to drive above it should the conditions allow, we should also be prepared to drive under it if the siuation requires.

what would you have done if you had rounded that bend and been faced with a terrible accident? Could have stopped then?

Yes the police shouldnt have stopped immediatley after a corner, but the fact you had to 'skid to a halt' - suggests you were driving too fast for the corner/conditions.

The simple fact is - I will take a highly trained traffic officer over a Yellow box every time - they generally are able to practice good judgement - and as your (hard to read) story pointed out - he was going to ticket you for careless driving until you pointed out that the incident was caused, in some way, by his positioning - in which he accepted your position and let you go.

Yes, you do get over zealous policeman, and some people are unfairly treated (i have been there), but at the end of the day the majority do a good job - and you might be quick to critise, but i'd be willing to bet if your cars stolen, you'll call them straight away and expect them to do everything they can to help you!

true, but usually they will do bugger all to try and find your car. if they do find it, it will usually be luck rather than police intelligence or detective work.

True, cousins car was stolen and all she got was a crime reference number.

Car was only found as a resident reported a car that had been dumped in their street.

Even then the cops didn't go out to it, just called my cousin and told her where it was so she could pick it up!!
