No Throttle

Hello, found this forum while searching a fault for my Avensis, and was wondering if anyone can steer me in the right direction.

Car Details: Toyota Avensis 2.0 TD Estate on a 2000 V plate

Have only had this car a few weeks and gave it a service and everything was fine for a while. Last week I pulled up at a set of lights and the Engine light came on, the lights changed and I went to accelerate to the side of the road and there was no throttle response at all. (The engine was idling smoothly)

After turning the engine of and re-starting it, the light was off and it drove perfectly well for 2 days then the fault occured again. This has now happened a couple of times and turning the engine off and re-starting it always cures the problem for a while.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

P.s I did try a search, but could not find any faults where there was a total loss of accelerator

Does the actuall engine rev ?

It could be the tps
