Hey-hey,

Just a quick hello to other users of this forum.

I just got my first Toyota (less than a week ago) and I am very impressed. Its a 1.8 54 plate Avensis T-4. It took some getting used to, asecially as I didnt have the manual for the sat-nav (if anyone knows where I can download one I would appreciate it), and it had some kind of Nokia hands free kit that I since found out is the CK-7 with bluetooth which works brilliantly with my 6300. I will at some point upgrade the cradle so it will charge the phone as well.

I am also going to get some kind of IPod adapter, probably the Dension kit. Is that a good kit? Is there anything I should know/what it will/wont do?

So far I love my Avensis, its a fantastic ride and I love the gadgets.

Hope to speak to you all soon.

Mark

I have the dension in my Avensis and would recommend it. The only problem I have with it is it doesn't always "latch in" properly and switches back to CD again.

This requires the ignition to be switched off and on, then it's OK.

It sees 5 of your itunes playlists as CD's and the 6th virtual CD is the user interface where you can select other albums/ songs etc.

The steering wheel controls work( volume/ next track/ next disc) and also IPOD text is displayed on the stereo display. (i didn't realise for about a week until I accidentally pressed the text button on my head unit) It also charges the IPOD up.

Getting the factory head unit is simple, though a bit daunting at first.

This is my unit fitted. If you need further advice feel free to contact me.

Hi Rossi46, Thanks for the info, it sounds perfect. The fact that it charges the IPod is good because the pod I'll be using is an old one that doesnt hold its charge very well.

Your dash is identical to mine so I wonder if you could tell me something, What does the button on the right hand side of the steering wheel do? The one with the display/voice symbol? I know it scrolls through the various trip computer functions but I have no idea what it does in 'nav'mode.

I am gonna get the ipod adapter soon and I will try and post a few pics when its installed.

Cheers

Hi Adz,

I'm keen to get my iPod working in my Avensis too. How does the Denison unit you have interface to the car? I presume there's an auxiliary input on the back of the stereo head-unit though it's wrong to presume, isn't it?

I have the W53901 head-unit so will the Denison unit install to this or does it only work with the W53900? Which unit is installed in your car? (The model is on the bezel to the top-right of the stereo display, toward the Tune knob)

Is installation easy?

Does the kit come with everything you need to install and what sort of money are they?

Thank you in advance and regards,

Mal

I notice you have Sat Nav working with your iPod, how did you manage this. I was under the impression that mp3 interfaces do not work with Nav units in the Avensis

I'd like to know this too as it might affect my choice of Toyota :) Exactly which models can you fit an ipod interface to and which can't you?

I have a Avensis 2007 2.2D-4D 180T and it has a full screen sat nav where the CD unit is in the pictures, its brilliant but I use my iPod using a normal FM transmitter! Its not the best choice and I love the fitting that Adz has BUT it wouldn't affect my choice of car!
