Brakes ?

Just got the rav with new pads on front however, when we turn to the left a squealing sound comes from the nearside wheel. Is it bedding in or is it more sinister as in wheel bearings. Taking car back to garage tommorow would like to have an idea as to the problem.

Hullawrair

RAVs in Dumbarton - place must be coming up in the world????

Welcome to the Scottish corner !!

Sounds (like the pun eh?) like the pads are just settled in - new pads are quick to fit. Dunno your model, but some have squeal shims fitted to avoid noise from pads. Its probably just them bedding in and adjusting themselves to the discs...just watch you don't do too many emergency stops in the 1st 50 miles or so to let them bed in nicely.

See what the garage says as long as it doesn't cost you anything.

I get squealing from the rear drum brakes of the minibus, but as I don't use it a lot, then rust can form on the brake surface and cause noise...or even dust. Once the brakes have been used a short time, it becomes quiet. I'd guess its the same concept with yours -

have fun

dunno how long you've had the RAV; but you're in an ideal area to be able to get great use of it.

Hi

It seems that I purchased a problem car, Speedo not working, Toyota Told me to check fuses, good idea if you can identify the correct one. Can anyone Help.

You are correct Dumbarton is coming up in the world to be honest we couldn't sink much deeper. Place is expanding at an alarming pace soon be part of the Balloch catchment, adds loads to the price of the house.

You'll be speaking dead posh next...as quite a few have done for quite afew years now...my mums cousin lived in Dumbarton (she was a manager in the hospital) and her dad was high up in the polis.

Speedo - thats a new one...let me look at the elctrics diagram i have...Looking at the diagram for the 94-97 models, the VSS - Vehicle speed sensor is down around the gearbox on the right when facing the front of the car...maybe a wire is off. I can't see reference to a fuse.

I've never come across such a problem other than that on the LR which is simply a broken cable. An auto electrician could find it, or if you're out Motherwell way, phone Marc at The Garage and say that Ian told you to phone ans ask him if he can either look at it for you while you're there or if he can think of where it might be - Marc and his guys work on dashvboard stuff all the time and have done my RAV conversion and about to start the second..so they know a lot about the electrics on the RAV (Dennis did that bit) I forgot to say their new number is 01698 265303)

My clock went black years ago but never bothered to find whether it was the clock, light or what....
